Treatment Foster Care

Overview

Being a Treatment Foster Care Parent is unique, temporary and different from regular Foster Care parenting. Monthly reimbursements range from $2,100-$2,400. It requires specialized training, 24/7 support and a team of individuals who all work toward family reunification or the well being of the foster child. There are two types of Treatment Foster Care:

-       Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) is a highly structured evidence-based mental health treatment program for helping reunite foster children with their family. Once reunified, the child’s family continues to work with the agency treatment team to assure long-term stability and success.

-       Intensive Treatment Foster Care (ITFC) is designed to address the social and emotional needs of children (6-18 years of age) whose trauma history has made it difficult for them to function in a regular foster care setting. A special therapy called Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is used to help children who are experiencing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD) due to their prior experiences with; physical and sexual abuse, rape or assault, exposure to domestic violence, serious accidents, natural or human disasters, violent crime or witnessing sudden death.
